Saga of the Mythic CastleThe Journals of Dante of TytalusI must not allow myself to become distracted. Jocasta (the bitch) long impressed on me the importance of focus. These setbacks are not fatal. They are merely an inconvenience. We held a meeting earlier this evening. As our "hosts" seem to be unwilling to aid us, I moved that we elect a "head" to take charge of things and be "overseer" to a certain extent. I miscalculated slightly. Ridel suggested secret ballots, and to not vote for yourself. The vote came down to three votes for Arista and two for myself. Unwilling at this point to upset things I abided by the majority, as it did show me who my supporters are. Arista voted for me, and I for him, as had been previously arranged. It is not confirmed, but I suspect that Ridel and Elizabetta backed Arista, while Murran supported me. I sense that the true power struggle to come will be between myself and Ridel, and I do not see the Bjornaer a likely candidate. She serves a purpose -- for now. We are still without supplies or domestic aid. Our visit to the nearby village came up dry, as the local village leader (a hedge wizard of some sort) did not welcome our arrival. The villagers themselves seemed happy to see us, but they would not go against the wishes of their leader. He said that our new home is located in "The Place of Deer" and for answers we should communicate with the spirits of the place, as "the wolves would not help" (at least for now). So, I will attempt to meditate this night, both to try and clear my head, and to attempt contact with the spirits of this place. Only time will tell if I learn anything of significance. On another note, I must learn more of Ridel. He is the "wild card" of this situation. Murran backs me, and I understand what she is interested in. Elizabetta is temperamental (like all beasts). I need to get a leash on her, but I doubt that will be too much of a problem. Arista wishes to see peace reign over our band, but that isn't really possible unless someone commands. I intend to be that individual, but my time is not come yet. When I have learned more, my time will come. I must be patient. |
