Valyan's Heirs

The Journal of Thrak Stonebrow

Urupa was being more kind to us this time around. We hadn't gotten into any trouble, except for arresting Abel, but he had deserved that, so it was good for us. We had also been making some money and training. Ultimately, we were waiting for word from Fellidra about the news we had given her.

It was during this waiting that trouble found us yet again. We were in Garlen's Blessing having dinner when Kira went to the bar to get some more ale. Apparently, some drunk guy bumped into her and had dropped a ring in her pouch. She stopped to look at this ring when the ring's owner (not the drunk guy), a pretty big ork, noticed she was holding his ring. He immediately got all pissed off and tried to dump his four flagons of ale on Kira's head. She was too quick for him though as she flew into the air. I noticed his table of buddies and stood up and planted myself between the fracas and them. Right after I got up, the floor turned icy, probably Malorrin's work. The orks at the table tried to get up and promptly fell down. I heard another big body fall down behind me; that must have been the ring-deprived ork.

This pretty much defused the situation really quickly. The ork was given back his ring and we tried to track down the one who had bumped into Kira, but the trail seemed a little cold. Gir was able to pick up a trail, but it turned out to be a false lead. So, we returned to the Blessing and tried to puzzle out what had happened and if it actually meant anything more than just a random encounter.

After doing some more training and such, we got word that Fellidra wanted to meet with us again. We went almost immediately. When we got there Fellidra greeted us and introduced us to Ambassador Kalamesh. He was from a kingdom across the Aras Sea, far to the east. We learned that he had heard of the Protectorate and of its 'mission'. Fellidra then proposed a course of action. She told us that there were not the resources to conduct any sort of missions to the Protectorate. But, she then said that, if we wanted to, we could try to infiltrate the Protectorate and learn what we could.

As far as I was concerned, it was only a matter of when we decided to leave. After Markham's escape, I have a matter of revenge that must be settled. Though before we do leave, we must try and advance as much as we can quickly; Gir and I are nearly ready for training for the fourth circle, and Kira just got there. With that under our belts, the thread items we have will become that much more useful.
