Earthdawn is a fantasy role-playing game that was originally released by FASA Corporation in 1993. It enjoyed moderate success for several years until FASA discontinued the game in 1998 (and closed their doors soon after). A couple years later, a new company, Living Room Games, licensed the game from FASA and began producing material for the game, including the second edition. LRG hasn't produced any material for the game since the release of The Wanderer's Way: Makers of Legend Volume 2. Another company has appeared on the scene with a license to produce Earthdawn material. RedBrick Limited is a New Zealand based company that announced in late 2003 that they will be producing a line called Earthdawn Classic, based on the original FASA rules. I have been involved with Earthdawn since its initial release as both player and gamemaster. I am was an original member of the Earthdawn Publishing Trust, a fan-based internet group that publishes supplemental material for Earthdawn, including the 'zine The Book of Tomorrow. (Though I have moved on from regular contribution to the EDPT.) I am now an associate editor and developer for the RedBrick line, and since the Earthdawn Player's Compendium was released in 2006, we have produced a number of high-quality products available through our online stores in both electronic and print formats. Earthdawn is largely responsible for the existence of The Lore Merchant in the first place. I created the site as a place to post journals and tales from my two-year campaign, Riders on the Storm. That campaign wrapped up several years ago, but its influence is still strong in my current role-playing endeavors. This area contains journal entries and stories from my old campaign, Riders on the Storm, some other Earthdawn fiction, an article on the Journeyman Discipline, and the Earthdawn Timeline, which has been translated into at least three other languages, and hosted on other websites. I've also been running a new Earthdawn campaign, Valyan's Heirs. Leanne, one of the players, started keeping an in-character journal of the campaign, and I will post updates here as they become available. In addition, Pat Duffy (who plays the troll Thrak) has started a journal as well. You can also take a look at the player character descriptions (and character sheets) here. You can also find a link to an excel-based spreadsheet that tracks characters for the RedBrick edition of Earthdawn. It is a Zip file containing the spreadsheet and a user's guide for the sheet.
